Prof. Ludger Brümmer - "Raumklang und Wahrnehmung - Warum Klänge im Raum sinnvoll sind.“
LUDGER BRÜMMER is currently a Professor of Composition with Digital Media and the Head of the Hertz
Laboratory at ZKM Karlsruhe. He studied composition at the Folkwang University of the Arts in
Essen and was a Visiting Scholar at the Center for Computer Research in Music and Acoustics at
Stanford University, USA from 1991 to 1993.
Since 2000, he has been a Research Fellow at Kingston University London, in 2001 a Professor of
Composition at the Sonic Research Centre in Belfast, and since 2003 the Director of the Institute
for Music and Acoustics at ZKM | Center for Art and Media Karlsruhe.
Since 2017, he has been the Head of the Hertz Laboratory, which was formed from the merger
of two previous institutes at ZKM.
In 2009, he was appointed as a member of the Academy of Arts Berlin, and since 2017,
he has been a Professor at the Trossingen University of Music.
